The Chicago Bears re-signed kicker Robbie Gould to a five-year deal, reportedly  worth $15 million.  Although the deal puts him at the top of the pack of kicker salaries, it seems so small in comparison to other players’ contracts, especially considering his accuracy and consistency during his time with the Bears.

The Chicago Bears re-signed last season’s franchise player Lance Briggs to a six year deal. Widely thought to be one of the top players on the free agent market this off-season, Briggs’ return to the team will be fondly welcomed with open arms. This despite all of the contention between Briggs and management […]

Moose cut from the Chicago Bears

Chicago Bears wide receiver Muhsin Muhammad was cut from the squad yesterday after accumulating his fewest number of receptions in a season since 1997.  I think that the loss of Moose will be fairly strong, unless they pick up a new wide receiver in the draft.  He has certainly been a fan favorite.  I guess […]

A Christmas miracle: Bears beat Packers

Chicago Bears: 35
Green Bay Packers: 7
The last time the Bears played the Packers, I watched the game after unsuccessfully trying to complete the Chicago marathon in 90 degree weather. It is, of course, appropriate that for their second meeting, the weather was freezing cold. And by cold, I mean 2 degree wind chill […]

Monday, December 17th

ESPN
at Vikings
I am sure when the NFL powers that be scheduled Monday night’s match-up between the Chicago Bears and the Minnesota Vikings, they had no idea that the teams would be 5-8 and 7-6 respectively.
They assumed, rather optimistically, that this game would be a crucial division match-up, coming late in the season […]

Redskins: 24
Bears:  16
Last night’s Chicago Bears loss to the Washington Redskins may not be as costly to the line-up as originally thought.  When Rex Grossman went down with a knee injury, it looked serious enough to not only end his season, but to impact his ability to play next year.
Today the Bears announced that Rex […]

Chicago Bears at Washington Redskins
Thursday, 7:15 p.m. central time
TV: NFL Network, WPWR-Ch. 50 (channel 8 on Comcast)
Given the way that their season has gone, especially their complete collapse in the last game against the New York Giants, the Chicago Bears may be glad that few people will be able to watch their game tonight against […]

New York Giants: 21
Chicago Bears: 16
Although, granted, the New York Giants were beating themselves for most of the game, the Chicago Bears really should have come down with this victory today. Instead, following a late score, the Giants beat the Bears on their home turf.
The Bears had their own problems, dropping passes they […]

Chicago Bears Devin Hester had a great game last Sunday against the Denver Broncos. He returned a punt and a kick-off for touchdowns, breaking the Bears single-season return record.
Here a video that shows both of his great returns.

NY Giants mum on whether they’ll kick to Hester

Although typically opposing coaches are pretty open about their game plan regarding Chicago Bears player Devin Hester, New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin won’t say whether or not he’ll kick to him.
Saying only “we’ll see,” the coach has left the Bears guessing how Sunday’s game will go. Typically the other team will say something […]
